Our Objectives

Introducing the Earthseed Community Therapy program. Please note that acceptance is on a first-come-first-serve basis as space is limited.

The Earthseed Community Therapy Project launched on March 28, 2022. The program was created in collaboration with the Black Inmates and Friends Association, Toronto Black Farmers and Growers Collective, Therapy Full Circle and Keep6ix.

Black Lives Matter – Canada established the re-entry support program at Wildseed Centre for Art and Activism to specifically provide care for formerly incarcerated Black community members. Black people who’ve been involved in the criminal justice system face numerous barriers to reentry resulting from racism, stigma, violence, and trauma that can ultimately lead to a need for mental health intervention. Earthseed is working with licensed Therapists and other justice-involved organizations to provide free therapy sessions in support of reducing recidivism and using trauma-informed practices to build communities of collective care.

Participants will have access to the program through referral. Once it’s been determined that a person meets the program criteria (Black identified, at least 16+, impacted by police violence and/or recently released from incarceration) they’ll complete a comprehensive intake by our partners, Therapy Full Circle. When the intake has been completed participants will coordinate with the therapist team when their sessions will begin. Each session is fifty five minutes long and participants have access to up to five free sessions. The modalities will include psychotherapy that’s sensitive to and reflective of the unique needs of the community it serves.
