Black Trans Artist Residency Call for Submissions Community Event
Jul 18, 2024 — Aug 7, 2024
Wildseed Centre for Art & Activism is calling for proposals for its new short-term artist-in-residence program, Creative Intervention on Black Trans Healing.
Wildseed Centre invites Black and AfroIndigenous trans, 2S and nonbinary artists across any creative discipline to apply for a paid opportunity. The program provides them with funding to seek out mentorship from another Black trans artist, present a creative activation within a
closed-door space of healing, and co-facilitate a feedback session among Black and AfroIndigenous trans, 2Strans and nonbinary people.
We seek to provide an artist-in-residence with the tools they need to curate a closed, safe space to explore these issues with other Black trans kin, using their artistic work as an anchor for community explorations in preparation for Trans Day of Remembrance.
Attendees of the Black Trans Artist Residency activation will not only bare witness to the selected artists’ creative intervention but will also contribute to the dialogue that seeks to directly create a safer, more responsive transfeminist community hub.
We will be hosting an information session on July 23rd, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. ET. ASL interpretation will be provided.
Presented with support from The Enchanté Network.
